Inquiry Textbook for Adults: Mathematics Basics: Statistical Inference and Related Topics

Statistics isn't math." "Can data analysis and statistical inference really be called math?" These are thoughts shared by many students of high school mathematics. In this book, we review the basic theory of statistics and attempt to tackle the rare university entrance exam questions. We explore this topic by linking it to the author's hobbies of "archaeology" and "artificial intelligence." Techniques such as partial differentiation and the calculus of variations are necessary for both statistics and artificial intelligence, and are essential for studying physics at university. We've taken this opportunity to summarize these topics as well, organizing them into a textbook for adult inquiry. After explaining the basic theory, we provide explanations for practicing university entrance exam questions that allow students to easily verify the theory. The book covers a wide range of topics, including the programming language Python, photography techniques, dendrochronology, and even the theory of normal distribution, which is difficult to discuss with high school students, all explained as an extension of High School Mathematics III. From "Statistics isn't math" to "Statistics isn't a bad thing, either." I hope that the many teachers who take pride in teaching mathematics will feel the same way.
