Shimano 24 Barchetta Premium Spinning Reel! Enjoy comfortable reeling and precise fall control. The Barchetta Premium, a lightweight reel with a counter, boasts micro-module gears, a HAGANE body, and X-SHIP technology for smooth reeling and rigidity. Now available with a further update. The new fall lever features a one-way roller bearing that prevents handle rotation from becoming heavy even when the brake is applied. This allows for wide, precise fall speed adjustment without compromising reeling comfort when using slow-fall lures such as metal squid jigs, hairtail, flounder, hitotsu-tenya, tairaba, and SLJ. In addition to the new line counter with improved visibility, the reeling distance alarm sounds at each set distance, allowing you to audibly track the distance from the start of reeling, allowing you to know the depth without taking your eye off the tip. Both the single and double handles feature a long 60mm length. CI4+ material and other features have achieved a significant weight reduction compared to the previous model. Precise fall control. The so-called "fall bite" and lure are important factors in metal squid jigs and various other types of fishing. Depending on the target, they can be as important, or even more so, than the lure's upstroke. The new fall lever allows you to freely adjust and recreate that fall speed without stressing the reeling comfort. Equipped with a one-way roller bearing, this revolutionary design ensures smooth rotation in the reeling direction, even when the fall lever is tightened. This allows for stable reeling regardless of fall speed. Furthermore, the lever itself is designed with a wide profile and a recess on the top, making it easier to hook your finger whether the lever is in the up or down position, improving operability. Combined with a wider viewing angle and a counter featuring new functions such as a reeling distance alarm, this also improves the reproducibility of hit patterns by understanding fall speed and hit range. Lighter than the previous model, this reel is over 30g lighter. By revising the weight down to the finest detail, starting with the updated side plate to CI4+, we've achieved a significant weight reduction of over 30g overall (*), despite the HAGANE body. Combined with the easy-to-grip, low-profile body design, it delivers nimble operation. *Compared to the previous model* The 60mm long handle is a carefully designed feature. The 150 and 151 models come standard with a highly rigid, cold-forged 60mm power handle, while the 150DHXG, 151DHXG, 150DH, and 151DH models feature a 60mm long double handle—the longest available among Shimano double handle models. Combined with a large knob that fits securely in the palm of your hand, it improves reeling stability and reduces angler fatigue, even during extended fishing sessions. It supports stable, powerful reeling, even when using heavy metal squid jigs and weights or fighting large bluefish. The reeling distance alarm supports a streamlined approach. The new reeling distance alarm on the Barchetta Premium allows you to track reeling distance without having to look at the depth display on the counter. It starts measuring when you begin reeling after the bait hits the bottom. It sounds up to three times at multiples of the set distance, letting you know the reeling distance without having to look at the counter. For example, with the 5m setting (A-5), a notification sound will sound three times every 5m up to 15m from the bottom, informing the angler of the reeling distance. This function allows anglers to intuitively determine the captain's instructions, such as "feel a bite at XX meters from the bottom" or "reel up XX meters when it hits the bottom," without having to look at the counter. This new function enhances concentration on the instructed depth when reeling from the bottom. Line reel learning made easy. The line reel learning function memorizes the relationship between spool rotation and line volume in the digital counter and uses this relationship to display water depth. In addition to the learning function of previous models, this reel now includes learning data for PE 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, and 1.5, which are frequently used for this size. Regardless of the amount of line reeled, as long as the specified line is wound approximately 1mm from the spool outer diameter, it will be within a sufficient margin of error for practical use. *Notes on Use* The specified line learning function is the standard learning value when the specified line (Shimano PE line) is wound, including the backing line, approximately 1mm from the spool's outer diameter. Accuracy may decrease depending on the type of line used, line tension, and the outer diameter after spooling. For more accurate accuracy, please learn in E1, E2, L1, or L2 mode. This reel is recommended for anyone who enjoys light fishing from a boat. Among the improvements made in this model change, the first is the new fall lever, which allows you to experience and utilize its functionality in actual fishing. The fall lever allows you to easily adjust the fall speed with the lever operation. However, previously, the brake affected the reel's handle reeling. For example, when using a metal squid jig weighing 20-40g, setting the fall speed to a slower speed resulted in heavier reeling, requiring you to return the lever to its original position after each cast. However, the new fall lever does not interfere with the reel's handle reeling, allowing you to reel at the set fall speed. This feature is extremely convenient and can be used in a wide range of fishing situations, such as preventing backlash when casting for hairtail and light horse mackerel, and preventing line slack in fast currents. Having it makes a huge difference in comfort. Another benefit you'll notice as soon as you start fishing is the 60mm handle length, which makes reeling easier in all situations, from retrieving heavy rigs and luring fish to fighting large fish. Another benefit, though not obvious, is the reeling distance alarm. For example, if you set the alarm to sound when you've reeled in 10 meters, it will let you know how far you've reeled in, allowing you to concentrate on efficiently locating the depth and get a feel for your own reeling speed. When it comes to tenaya hairtail, there's a tendency to lure at wider depths in Osaka Bay and narrower depths in Tokyo Bay, so being able to adjust the distance at which you want the alarm to sound is a useful feature. The easy-to-read counter is also a practical advantage. The new Barchetta Premium is a major evolution with these enhanced features and specifications, but what's surprising is that it's also significantly lighter than its predecessor. The Barchetta Premium is a sibling model to the Engetsu Premium and Grappler Premium, but while the Engetsu is specialized for red snapper fishing and the Grappler for light jigging, the Barchetta Premium is a versatile reel that can be used for a variety of fishing. It's great for metal squid jigs, hairtail, and light horse mackerel, as well as red snapper fishing and light jigging, so it's a reel we recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy light fishing from a boat.
