[ace.GENE]
Ace Co., Ltd., a long-established Japanese bag manufacturer, is the culmination of the bag-making experience and know-how cultivated since its founding.
"ace.gene" is the bag and luggage brand that embodies the Ace DNA.
High functionality with cutting-edge ideas.
Top performance for any occasion.
Aiming for even greater heights, the genes of Ace will continue to evolve forever.
Ace's origins date back to 1940, when founder Ryusaku Shinkawa opened a bag shop called "Shinsenryu Shoten" in Tennoji, Osaka.
In 1953, Shinkawa developed Japan's first bags made from the new material "Toray Nylon."
Colorful, lightweight, strong, and easy to clean, these bags became so popular that they were even described as "a major revolution in bags."
This innovative spirit led to Ace's dream of "producing Japanese-made luggage that can compete with the world's best."
In 1958, Shinkawa embarked on a round-the-world trip to expand markets and inspect the industry.
The three-month trip took him to the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Hong Kong. During his visit, he encountered the American luggage manufacturer Samsonite and began importing and selling suitcases.
Four years later, production of the first Japanese-made suitcase, the Debonair, began.
In 1963, the company changed its name to Ace Co., Ltd.
In 1971, a suitcase factory was established in Akabira, Hokkaido, and production capacity was expanded.
As the number of international travelers increased year by year, Ace launched the "Silhouette," a Japanese-made suitcase designed to meet the needs of Japanese travelers.
Since then, Ace suitcases have evolved in their own unique way, becoming known as the most advanced suitcases in the world.
Today, Ace Gene leverages the bag-making experience and know-how it has cultivated since its founding to create easy-to-use, high-quality products that exude the aesthetic sense and attention to detail unique to Japanese brands.
