Description
MAXIMUM THE HORMONE
The band's agency is Mimikajiru. The label is Warner Music Japan. The band's abbreviation is Hormone.
According to vocalist/guitarist Maximum the Ryo-kun, the band's name comes from "We're going to blast music that'll get your blood pumping and your muscles dancing, enough to get your hormones flowing at maximum!" The name was actually an afterthought. Because the band members love meat, they combined the word "hormon" (grilled meat) with the word "MAXIMUM" to create a cool sound.
Originally, the band's name was written in English as "Maximum The Hormone." After a lineup change, the name was written in katakana, with the English spelling used as a secondary term. The official spelling is "Maximum the Hormone" with a half-width space.
Their signature style is intense performances reminiscent of hardcore punk. While they have a strong image as a band yelling out surreal, incomprehensible lyrics, they also have many pop songs and a unique musicality that defies being pigeonholed into a single genre. Another defining feature is the exceptionally skilled performance of each member.
Fans have pointed out that upon closer listening, the aforementioned incomprehensible Japanese lyrics (official lyrics) sound like coherent English.
While these misheard English lyrics are not officially recognized, opinions among fans are divided, some fans enjoy them and have posted their own misheard lyrics in the comments.
This is a Maximum the Hormone Corona Namore Momo 2nd Store T-shirt.
The back features an official homage illustration of the five band members from the nostalgic high school manga, familiar from their debut single "Koi no Megaraba."
