Hojicha is a type of bancha that can be easily brewed with hot water as it is. It is made by carefully roasting larger leaves of sencha without burning them. When you think of hojicha, the first thing that comes to mind is its aroma. This aroma is created through the roasting process.

At every moment—from pouring boiling water over the tea leaves, to pouring from the teapot into a cup, and when tasting—the fragrant aroma of roasted hojicha fills the air. The water color is a clear reddish-brown. When you take a sip, first you notice the aroma, then a refreshing bitterness and umami, followed by a gentle sweetness. Even on its own, hojicha has a rich flavor, and pairing it with flavorful or greasy foods can make the palate feel refreshed.

Usage Instructions: Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and steep for about 3 minutes before drinking. Recommended for relaxation or as a nightcap.
