I bought these sponges to clean my cast iron pots. You can't wash them with detergent, but you have to remove burnt-on food somehow. The sponges do exactly that, they clean very well without chemicals. I wouldn't recommend them for stainless steel, as the very rough surface would scratch the steel completely. Please don't use them on enamel either. I would definitely recommend buying them.
