The threads are soft. I bought it for the color - bright, saturated. I was not disappointed. I think knitting needles from 3.5 and above will do. The quality is acrylic. I like it. Overall, I am very pleased.. I add: the threads are very pleasant to work with. In addition to acrylic, cotton is also felt in the composition. The needle number 4 is definitely suitable, for the elastic you can use 3.5. The sample after the second did not stretch, holds its shape, became a little more voluminous, does not fade with such a rich color. I like everything very much.
Too short thread for the weight of 50 grams and this thickness - it's very strange. The yarn itself is of decent quality, but I won't order it from you again. The purple color does not match the one selected, it has some dull gray hue, and the composition is not what was stated in the product description.
