Imabari towels, made in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, are made using a wealth of know-how and outstanding craftsmanship accumulated over 120 years of history, from material selection to weaving, dyeing, and post-processing.
In order to guarantee quality in the Imabari towel production area, the use of the brand mark and logo is not permitted unless the towel passes the unique quality standards set by the Shikoku Towel Industrial Association (which includes, for example, not only the "five-second rule" that measures absorbency, which determines how long it takes for a towel to start sinking when placed on water, but also pile retention and color fastness).
