Nankai Electric Railway is a railway company that connects Namba in Osaka to Wakayama, Koyasan, and Kansai International Airport.
Founded in December 1885, it is the oldest private railway in Japan.
The 9000 series trains are based on the 8200 series operated on the Koya Line, and 32 cars were manufactured from 1985 for use on the Nankai Main Line.
This series is the first vehicle intended for operation on the Nankai Main Line to use an all-stainless steel body.
When it first appeared, a green band was placed on the silver stainless steel body to distinguish it from the Koya Line vehicles.
From around 1993, the design was changed to the same blue and orange band that is still seen today, in line with the image renewal associated with the opening of Kansai International Airport.
Currently, all vehicles are being updated with the aim of improving passenger services, such as updating control equipment and making them barrier-free.
By using the separately sold power unit and N scale running parts, it can be run as an N scale railway model.
We recommend the power unit TM-08R (20m class A), the traveling parts set TT-04R, and the pantograph PT4811N [0258].
