How to Use: Basic Guidelines for Vitamin D Supplementation for Infants by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Institute of Medicine: If exclusively or partially breastfed: Give your baby 10 mcg (400 IU) of liquid vitamin D daily, beginning at 3-4 days of age. After weaning, continue to give 10 mcg (400 IU) until your baby is drinking about 1 liter (32 oz) of vitamin D-fortified formula daily or until he or she is drinking regular cow's milk after 12 months of age. If you are feeding less than 1 liter (32 oz) of vitamin D-fortified formula daily: Beginning at 3 to 4 days of age, give your baby 10 mcg (400 IU) of liquid vitamin D daily. Continue to give your baby 10 mcg (400 IU) of vitamin D until he or she is drinking more than 1 liter (32 oz) of formula daily.
