Introduction to "Escaflowne" Kanzaki Hitomi, a first-year high school student, was an ordinary girl who enjoyed fortune telling as a hobby. But one day, she had a strange hallucination, and her fate changed dramatically. The next day, as dusk draws near in the schoolyard, Hitomi confesses her love to a senior student she admires. Suddenly, a giant dragon appears, sword drawn, along with a boy named Ban! It is exactly the inhabitant of the other world she hallucinated. Ban struggles against the dragon's attacks, but with Hitomi's advice he is able to defeat it. However, in the next moment, a new pillar of light appears and Hitomi and Ban are transported to the other world, Gaia!
