[About Garnet Coral]
This type of lumber was harvested in the waters off the Hawaiian Islands and Midway Islands, but as it is no longer harvested, the amount of lumber available is decreasing year by year. At the time, logs harvested by Japanese ships were brought to Kochi and put up for auction.
It is relatively transparent, and the color ranges from white to light pink, and when it gets darker, it turns salmon pink, almost orange. It does not have a clear white color like red or peach, but even though the surface is pink, the color becomes whiter towards the center of the trunk. Therefore, even loose stones often have white areas on the back. It is sometimes lumped together with other types and called pink coral.
*This is a general description, and there are exceptions even within the same type.
[About precious coral]
Coral takes many years to grow, so it may have been worn since ancient times with the hope of longevity and healthy growth. Coral is also worn overseas as a talisman for safe childbirth and for the growth of children. In Japan, coral is given as a commemorative gift for the 35th wedding anniversary, and red coral is given as a gift to celebrate the 60th birthday. Coral is also the birthstone for March, so it makes a great birthday gift for people born in March.
[About the three waters of precious coral]
Our store is located in Kochi Prefecture, a world-famous coral producing area, and is a workshop that handles all production processes for coral, from purchasing logs to processing loose stones, and for jewelry, from designing to processing precious metals.
Coral is a gemstone created by nature, and the colors and shapes of the raw coral vary widely, making it difficult to create the same coral as the finished product. Sometimes there are pieces with beautiful color gradations that cannot be expressed in grade or words, and some with beautiful shapes that could not be created by human hands. These are also part of the charm of precious coral created by nature. We have a wide variety of products available, from high quality to accessory quality, so please come and find your favorite coral.
