Taiko no Tatsujin: Tatacon de Dodon ga Don, which gained popularity in the arcade version and was a huge hit on the PS2, is now available again as a standalone software. It's now available at an affordable price, a welcome bonus for those who already own the dedicated Tatacon controller. Taiko no Tatsujin: Tatacon de Dodon ga Don (software only) is a rhythm action game in which you play the drum in time with the music. Hitting the drum-shaped Tatacon's surface produces a "don" sound, while hitting the edge produces a "ka" sound. Players play by following the on-screen instructions. There are six game modes available: "Arcade Mode," which allows two-player battles; "Free Mode," where you can practice as much as you like; "Survival Mode," where you keep hitting until your soul gauge runs out; "Mini-Game Mode," a sports-themed mode; "Beginner Mode," where you'll learn how to play the drums from Master Drumstick; and "Setting Mode," where you can customize the drum sounds to your liking. The game contains 30 songs in total, including familiar songs from the arcade version and original songs for the home version. There are also "hidden songs" that can be played if certain conditions are met. "Taiko no Tatsujin Doki! New Songs Full Spring Festival (software only)," which contains only new songs for the home version, will also be released at the same time. (Tanaka Akira)
