Product Introduction
Ship NEXT Series Battleship Yamato 1941 / Now available with photo-etched parts at the time of completion!
The first of the Yamato-class battleships, Yamato, was completed in December 1941, representing the culmination of large-scale shipbuilding technology from the Kongo-class to the Nagato-class.
With a standard displacement of 64,000 tons and 46cm main guns, it was world-class in all aspects. It was the long-awaited flagship of the Combined Fleet, and served as the flagship for Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku, commander-in-chief of the Combined Fleet, during the Battle of Midway.
As aircraft became the main force in battle, Yamato underwent modifications such as the removal of some of its secondary guns and the addition of anti-aircraft firepower. In October 1944, it participated in Operation Sho-Ichi-Go (Operation Sho-Ichi-Go) in the Sea of Leyte Gulf. In April 1945, it set out to destroy the US forces that had landed on Okinawa, but met its end in the attack of numerous US carrier-based aircraft.
This model is based on the ship's appearance upon completion in December 1941, shortly after the outbreak of the Pacific War.
The snap-fit design eliminates the need for adhesive.
Main components are represented with pre-colored plastic parts, while some color-toned areas are reproduced with realistic stickers that adhere well to surfaces.
The 15-meter rangefinder atop the bridge recreates its clean appearance without the Type 21 radar.
The top of the bridge, which was painted white to indicate its membership in the Combined Fleet, is now molded in white, allowing for easy accenting without the need for paint.
The aircraft deck features a linoleum-covered walkway, which can be easily recreated with stickers.
The ship's general's flag is included, allowing you to recreate the appearance of Admiral Yamamoto, Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet, seated atop his seat as he sortied from Hashirashima in May 1942.
Etched parts are included to capture details difficult to recreate with injection parts.
Etched parts include handrails, Type 21 and 13 radars, a compass, and a ladder.
