The fish skin of rays and sharks is called kairagi, and during the Sengoku and Edo periods, this skin was sharpened and used for various decorative purposes. The name "kairagi" comes from the resemblance to the pattern of the glaze that did not completely melt when firing a tea bowl, which remains wrinkled. This product is part of a series that expresses this wrinkled pattern.
