2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: At the beginning of World War II, the Battle of Smolensk was fought between the German army that invaded the Soviet Union and the Soviet army that intercepted it. The battle that took place from July to August 1941 was a fierce battle over Smolensk, a strategic point on the road to Moscow. The model is a 1/35 scale reproduction of three tank soldiers from the Panzer III, which was the main force of the German tank corps during the Battle of Smolensk. There are three figures: the commander standing on the cupola, the soldier sitting on the turret hatch, and the corporal standing on the engine deck at the rear of the vehicle. It is a pose that conveys a moment before the battle, looking towards the vast Russian steppe where the battle is being fought. The figure is modeled in a black uniform unique to German tank soldiers, with one model taking off his jacket and wearing a gray Y-shirt. The commander figure's headphone cords are also delicately sculpted on the uniform, and some of the headphone parts are photo-etched to enhance the reality.This set also includes a figure that reproduces Heinz Guderian, who showed excellent command during the Battle of Smolensk.
