[ace.]
"Ace." is a brand created by Ace Co., Ltd., a long-established Japanese bag manufacturer.
Based on the concept of "treating every trip as a journey and providing the optimal form to make that journey more comfortable," the brand offers a wide range of items, from travel to casual to business.
The origins of "Ace" date back to 1940, when founder Ryusaku Shinkawa opened his bag store, "Shinsenryu Shoten," in Tennoji, Osaka.
In 1953, Shinkawa developed Japan's first bag made from the new material, "Toray Nylon."
The bag, colorful, lightweight, strong, and easily cleaned, became a hit, even being called "a major revolution in bags."
This innovative spirit led to Ace's dream of "producing Japanese-made luggage that can compete with the world."
In 1958, Shinkawa embarked on a round-the-world trip to expand his market and inspect the industry.
The three-month trip took him to America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Hong Kong. It was there that Shinkawa encountered the American luggage manufacturer Samsonite, and he began importing and selling suitcases.
Four years later, production of the first Japanese-made suitcase, the Debonair, began.
In 1963, the company changed its name to Ace Corporation.
In 1971, a suitcase production factory was opened in Akabira, Hokkaido, and production was ramped up.
With the number of international travelers increasing year by year, the company launched the Silhouette, a Japanese-made suitcase with functionality tailored to Japanese needs.
Since then, Ace suitcases have evolved in their own unique way, becoming known as the most advanced suitcases in the world.
In addition, the company launched a permanent suitcase recycling project, a project it had been conducting since 2000.
With the majority of unwanted suitcases being disposed of as bulky waste, Ace has established its own recycling system and is working to reduce its environmental impact.
Currently, Ace leverages the bag-making experience and know-how it has cultivated since its founding to create easy-to-use, high-quality products that exude the aesthetic sense and attention to detail that are unique to Japanese brands.
