Hanayama Magnetic King Shogi, Ages 6+

This foldable shogi set from the popular King Series is easy to play and store, and features magnetic pieces. There are eight types of shogi pieces: King (King), Bishop (Bishop), Gold General (Gold), Silver General (Silver), Knight (Knight), Bishop (Bishop), and Pawn (Pawn), each of which has a set range of movement. A game of shogi progresses by players mutually moving their pieces. The player who moves their piece first is called the White player, and the player who does not is called the Black player. Throughout a game of shogi, the White and Black players alternate between moving one of their pieces on the board once, or placing one of their own pieces (a piece taken from the opponent and becoming their own; described below) on the board once each. Each action in this sequence (moving a piece on the board or placing a piece on the board) is called a "move." As a verb, "sashi" (to point) refers to moving a piece on the board, while "uchi" (to hit) refers to placing a piece on the board.

Of the many tabletop games, only shogi games use the expression "sashi" (to point).
