This 40mm lens boasts the brightest aperture of f/1.2 and is equipped with a rangefinder coupling system. Its optical system employs two double-sided aspherical lenses, ensuring reliable performance even at maximum aperture, while producing smooth, large bokeh. Despite its large aperture, its extremely compact design makes it ideal for use with optical viewfinders, offering a light and easy operation.
Two of the eight lens elements are aspherical on both sides, achieving both high-level image quality and a large aperture.
The minimum focusing distance of the rangefinder is now 0.7m, allowing you to focus down to 0.5m, which is extremely useful when shooting with a camera equipped with the Live View function.
The lens mount is a VM mount compatible with the Leica M mount, which is ideal for use with rangefinder cameras, and also offers excellent design balance when attached to mirrorless digital cameras via a mount adapter.
It has a generous image circle that is compatible with full-frame 35mm cameras, and is extremely compact compared to interchangeable lenses for SLR cameras.
