Product Introduction
This detailed replica, featuring new parts, depicts the battleship converted into an aircraft carrier to complement its air power and take part in the Battle of Leyte Gulf!
This is an unpainted kit that requires assembly and painting.
The scale is 1/700, and this underwater model does not include the hull.
This product is constructed using the same molds as the previous (special series) and newly designed additional parts.
The battleship Ise was originally planned as the third ship of the Fuso-class, but due to the performance of the Fuso and Yamashiro, it was designed separately and built during the Taisho period.
Completed at Kawasaki Shipyard in 1917, its turrets were repositioned and repositioned to a superficial position compared to the Fuso-class.
The ship underwent a modernization from 1935 to 1937, including the addition of a bulge and an extension of the stern, ensuring its continued use as a frontline combat force.
During the Pacific War, the ship did not actively participate in any battles. Following the loss of its air power during the Battle of Midway in June 1942, it was converted into an aircraft carrier. It then sortied alongside the aircraft carriers Zuikaku and Zuiho in the Battle of the Philippine Sea in October 1944, returning home only to be heavily damaged and wrecked by a US air raid in July of the same year, resulting in the end of the war.
This product is based on the first Ise-class battleship, the Ise, as it appeared during Operation Sho-Ichi-Go in October 1944.
- The ship features the removal of main guns No. 5 and No. 6, and an aircraft operation deck installed in the stern of the ship. It also includes the Zuiun and Suisei (Comet) ships that were planned to be aboard.
Newly designed parts have been provided to standardize the level of detail for equipment and other features that varied between product release dates, with some parts separated for ease of painting.
- The Type 21 radar features more delicate sculpting than previous included parts, such as the insulator base for mounting the elements on the front side.
- The No. 22 radar is made using a slide mold to create a part with an open state, and the trumpet shape can also be extended.
- The 12.7 cm Twin Anti-Aircraft Gun Type A1 is subdivided into four parts, improving the modeling resolution from the existing two-part model.
- The 9-meter cutter is made into two parts to allow for painting, and the mount is available as a separate part, with the option of an integrated deck mold (with some exceptions).
- The 12-meter motorboat has separate parts for painting, including the canvas and wheelhouse/engine room canopy. Each part is painted and then assembled and glued later.
- The three-part configuration features the boat body and loading area floor as separate parts, allowing for assembly after painting, eliminating the need for masking.
- The 9-meter cutter mount features molded uneven surfaces and light holes, enhancing the sense of precision.
- A new chrysanthemum crest has been added to the bow.
- New sidelights have been added to add detail to previously omitted parts.
- Decals have been added for the stern ship name (painted in naval colors) and the white mast line.
- The Type 96 25mm twin machine gun is now a standard two-part part, which reduces the amount of painting/painting work required.
- The bridge/air defense command post includes separate binocular telescope parts for an enhanced sense of precision.
- The port and starboard sides of the hull are molded as one-piece parts.
- The hull (sides) feature parts designed specifically for aircraft carriers, separate from the Ise-class battleships.
- The upper deck is a single piece with intricate wooden deck carvings.
- The lower sections, such as the bridge base (bridge deck) and anti-aircraft gun mounts, are one-piece parts made using a slide mold.
- The bridge is constructed by stacking each layer to assemble, and the split pattern on the floor is reproduced with intricate carvings.
- Detailed equipment on each floor of the bridge, including searchlights, machine guns, and ladders, is recreated with parts.
- The flight deck's elevators are separate parts, and the same height as the deck surface is distinguished by intricate engraving.
- The funnel is a two-part structure, with the left and right sides glued together, and the steam exhaust pipe is a separate part.
- The strip patterns on the floor of the anti-aircraft gun mounts and other features are recreated with intricate engraving.
- The funnel caps are precisely constructed even when removed.
- The main gun barrels and canvas are one unit, and the elevation and depression angles are fixed.
- The main gun barrels are opened using a slide mold.
- The machine gun mounts added to the second and third main gun canopies are recreated with dedicated parts.
- The aft mast/cross tree, which distinguishes Ise from the second ship, Hyuga, comes with dedicated parts.
- Two types of aircraft are included, molded in gray.
- Includes six Zuiun and six Suisei bombers, the aircraft types planned for use on both ships.
- The 25mm machine guns are precisely sculpted and come in two parts for easy painting, with the 2018 molded parts included as standard.
- The main parts, bottom plate, aircraft, and machine gun parts are molded gray.
