Product Introduction
* The Murasame-class is the third generation of gas turbine-propelled general-purpose destroyers, following the Hatsuyuki-class and Asagiri-class. Nine ships were built by 2002.
The first ship, "Murasame," was completed in March 1996 and participated in overseas activities, including deployment to the Indian Ocean under the new Anti-Terrorism Special Measures Law and convoy escort off the coast of Somalia for anti-piracy operations.
It is currently assigned to the 1st Escort Division of the 1st Escort Flotilla in Yokosuka.
