Features of Iron Products
- Due to its excellent thermal conductivity, cooking over high heat may cause food to burn.
- Cooking highly acidic ingredients such as burdock, lotus root, or eggplant may cause the food to darken. This is due to the acidity of the ingredients and the iron in the frying pan, and is completely harmless to the body.
- Cooking highly acidic ingredients such as tomato sauce or jam may cause the surface to turn whitish due to the acid, and the food may have an iron-rich flavor. While this has no effect on your body, it may rust easily, so please store it with oil.
If the oil on the skillet's surface is removed by washing it with detergent or due to the effects of acid, it may rust easily, so please re-season it.
How to Season (Pre-Use Conditioning)
1. Wash with dishwashing detergent and wipe off any moisture thoroughly.
2. Place on the stove and heat over medium heat or lower until white smoke appears.
*This will cause the skillet to become very hot, so do not leave it unattended and take care not to get burned.
*If you are using a gas stove with an Si sensor, the flame may become smaller or go out during cooking. We recommend using a portable stove.
*Even if you are not sure whether white smoke appears, continue cooking for about 5 minutes.
3. Turn off the heat and let it cool slightly. While the skillet is still warm, coat the entire surface with vegetable oil such as olive oil.
*The skillet will be hot, so take care not to get burned.
Caution: The unit becomes very hot during cooking and immediately after cooking. To avoid the risk of burns, be sure to use thick cooking gloves.
This product is for use on gas stoves only. Cannot be used on induction cooktops.
When using on a gas stove with an Si sensor, place the plate on the grate so that the center of the bottom of the plate is in contact with the Si sensor. Do not move the plate on the grate, as this may cause the Si sensor to malfunction.
Do not use in a microwave.
After use, wash off any dirt or moisture as soon as possible, wipe off any moisture, lightly heat over a flame to dry, then apply a thin layer of cooking oil and store in a dry place away from moisture.
Do not soak or put in a dishwasher.
