The 14-element lens in 11 groups includes three aspherical lenses and one SLD glass element, optimally positioned to effectively suppress various aberrations such as astigmatism and field curvature that cannot be corrected by the camera's own functions. The lens employs a linear motor called an "HLA (High-response Linear Actuator)" and uses a single double-sided aspherical lens for the focus lens, enabling fast, quiet focusing and excellent tracking performance despite the large aperture. Equipped with a focus mode switch, an aperture ring click switch that turns the click on and off, an aperture ring lock switch to prevent unintentional operation, and an AFL button to which any function can be assigned from the camera, it allows for intuitive operation when shooting.
