Product Introduction
The 103 series is a commuter train that debuted in 1963, with over 3,400 cars manufactured.
The Senseki Line, which runs from Aoba-dori Station in Miyagi Prefecture to Ishinomaki Station, is the only DC-electrified JR line in the Tohoku region.
Following the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR), JR East took over the 103 series. The cars introduced to the Senseki Line in 1989 underwent body renovations to improve their overall performance.
This renovation included changing the front windows to a two-section design unique to the Senseki Line, replacing the boarding doors and side window sashes, and replacing the front operation indicator with a type indicator.
Starting around 1998, the trains were gradually repainted in a new blue and white livery.
This replica recreates the appearance of a train containing a 103 series KuMoHa car, with the roof ventilators still intact, after being repainted in the new livery.
By using a separately sold power unit and N gauge running parts, you can operate this train as an N gauge model train.
We recommend the TM-18 (20m class D) power unit, TT-03R (for KuHa 103 and SaHa 103) or TT-05 (for KuMoHa 103 and MoHa 102) running parts sets, and PS16P [0230] pantograph.
