Product Introduction
The Imperial Japanese Navy Light Cruiser Sakawa joins the Imperial Navy Series with a two-piece 25mm machine gun!
The light cruiser Sakawa was the fourth ship of the Agano class, laid down at the Sasebo Naval Arsenal in November 1942 and completed in November 1944, towards the end of the war.
The Agano class was designed as the flagship of a torpedo squadron, distinguishing itself from the previous 5,500-ton class with its modern appearance and armament.
The main battery consisted of three 15cm twin guns and two newly developed 8cm twin anti-aircraft guns.
Sakawa was completed the month after the Battle of Leyte Gulf, leaving the Combined Fleet unable to carry out organized operations.
She was transferred from Sasebo to Kure and engaged in training in the western Inland Sea, but never saw action. She was sent to Maizuru the month before the end of the war.
She remained there until the end of the war.
After the war, it traveled back and forth between overseas territories as a repatriation transport ship, and was used as a vessel for atomic bomb testing at Bikini Atoll before sinking in July 1946.
This product recreates the ship's appearance, which was equipped with Type 21, 22, and 13 radars at the time of completion.
The modern Agano-class design, which differed from previous Japanese light cruisers, is faithfully reproduced.
The instructions have been updated to make them easier to read and understand.
The product features a full hull that reproduces the bottom of the ship, and comes with a display stand for display after completion.
The 25mm twin machine guns include both the traditional one-piece construction and more precise two-piece parts.
The 25mm machine guns are constructed of two pieces, making it easy to paint the gunmetal barrel and the hull color of the base.
Two decals are included, featuring the naval ensign, the Japanese flag, and aircraft markings.
