Product Description
The "Discover Korean 101 Workbook" is most effective when used in conjunction with the textbook "Discover Korean I." This workbook is designed to help novice Korean learners practice and effectively use the grammar and various expressions introduced in that text. To facilitate the learning process, the authors have adopted an integrated skills approach, including practice in all four skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) across all six units. Unit 1 includes questions designed to help learners acquire basic reading and writing skills in Korean through a step-by-step method. A pronunciation focus is also included. Learners can learn the pronunciation of various vocabulary items based on their understanding of the Hangul alphabet. From Unit 2 onward, learners are encouraged to practice speaking, reading, listening, and writing in an integrated way, utilizing the newly introduced vocabulary and grammar in each unit. The first section of each unit consists of questions that allow learners to practice the basic vocabulary of the unit, with vocabulary acquisition supported by audio materials and a variety of illustrations that provide meaningful additional practice. The second section contains examples to help learners apply the grammatical concepts covered in the unit. The third section consists of questions that facilitate speaking and reading practice, guiding learners to improve their ability to communicate in various situations. This workbook is based on a communicative language teaching approach to promote the development of communication skills most suited to real-world situations. Various reading materials related to the topic of each textbook unit are provided to develop learners' reading skills, expand their knowledge, and enhance their understanding of grammar and vocabulary in ways applicable to daily communication. The fourth section includes questions for listening and writing practice, utilizing high-frequency, real-world listening materials that allow learners to apply basic listening and writing skills in various real-life situations. Furthermore, given learners' current interest in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK), the authors have included reading and listening questions in the fourth section that resemble those on the test, giving learners the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the test format. In closing, we wish Korean language learners the best of luck in their studies, and we sincerely hope this workbook serves as a valuable resource on your journey.
