By adopting a 9-blade circular aperture and correcting various aberrations to the utmost limit, this lens pursues sharp, clear, high-performance rendering from center to edge. It revises the specifications of the “★” series, anticipating further evolution in camera bodies, and was developed as a new-generation Star Lens achieving a significant improvement in resolution.
Latest Optical Technology
Features proprietary Nano Technology and Aero-Bright Coating II. Combined with the high-performance “HD Coating” that reduces average reflectance in the visible light range to approximately 50% or less compared to conventional coatings, it effectively suppresses ghosting and flare under challenging shooting conditions like backlighting. Furthermore, incorporating three anomalous low dispersion glass elements and one aspherical lens, it effectively corrects chromatic aberration and spherical aberration, achieving outstanding imaging performance with clear, high-contrast rendering from the center to the periphery.
Dustproof and Weather-Resistant Construction
As an “AW” type with dustproof and weather-resistant construction, it features sealing at eight locations throughout the body. When paired with our dustproof and weather-resistant digital SLR camera bodies, it enhances durability and reliability in rainy weather, fog, or locations subject to water splashes.
Newly Developed SDM Ultrasonic Motor
Features a newly developed ring-type SDM ultrasonic motor for AF drive. It delivers approximately 7.5 times the torque of the motor used in previous DA★ lenses' SDM systems, enabling fast and smooth operation of the large, heavy rear lens group during focusing.
In-Body Image Stabilization SR/SR II
The PENTAX K series digital SLR cameras feature in-body image stabilization (SR/SR II). This enables image stabilization with all lenses, allowing for smaller, lighter lens designs.
