Kokuryudo was established by Masatoshi Miyazaki, a Japanese doctor who was managing Kurodōdo Hospital in northeast China. He invented the Black Dragon Face Cream in 1907 to treat patients suffering from chapped skin and frostbites. In 1949, the cream was made available nationwide in Japan and began overseas distribution in 1955. Under continuous development and expansion, Kokuryudo now also offers a wide range of skin care and makeup products including cleansing oils, soaps, facial mists and pressed powders under 8 subsidiary brands.
