A former computer engineer (Jeff Bridges) who runs an arcade arcade infiltrates the company president (David Warner) who fired him to uncover corruption, but he falls into a trap and becomes trapped inside the computer world. While pursued by soldiers controlled by the entire program, he cooperates with the program that continues to investigate the corruption and foils the enemy's plot... This sci-fi film attracted attention for being the first in film history to fully utilize CG to create the main screen, and for its captivating use in constructing the dramatic world. It is also a monumental work, a pioneering example of CG imagery, which continues to grow exponentially. The bluish screen and linear movement of the mecha are honestly difficult to see, but they are a product of the CG of the time, and bring back a special feeling of nostalgia. The story itself is a clichéd good-versus-evil game, but Wendy Carlos' synth music fits perfectly with the screen, and the film is well-made enough to allow you to enjoy a different world for a moment.
