This guardian deity for those born in the Year of the Dragon was created by Sakai Go, a popular Buddhist sculptor known for his "Cat Buddhas." Carefully hand-painted in pale colors, the powerful yet adorable figure of Acala is a fitting zodiac ornament to entrust with protection, peace, and good fortune. Please use it as a lucky charm to pray for happiness in the Year of the Dragon.
In ancient Japan, it was believed that bringing the new year's decorations into one's home would bring happiness for the coming year. In these gloomy days due to prolonged price hikes and the resulting economic uncertainty, the dragon amulet "Yakuyoke Tatsu Fudoson" is presented with the hope that the coming New Year will be bright and full of hope. In ancient China, the dragon was believed to have the head of a camel, the horns of a deer, the eyes of a devil, the ears of a cow, the crest of a snake, the belly of a mirage (a divine beast resembling a snake), the scales of a carp, the palms of a tiger, and the teeth of a hawk. Because of these characteristics, the dragon was believed to control all kinds of fortune, including prosperity, wealth, good health, and the prosperity of descendants. Therefore, people prayed to the dragon's divine power for the peace of the country. In Japan, the dragon was also believed to be the incarnation of a water god, bringing abundant harvests. The dragon-themed "Yakuyoke-Tatsu Fudoson" was created based on the prototype of Butsaya Sakai, known for its cat Buddha statues. The Fudo statue holds a sword and a lasso in its hands, has heavenly eyes, and fangs that protrude from both sides. It is a powerful yet adorable decoration, perfect for entrusting protection, peace, and good fortune. Furthermore, it was delivered after receiving a blessed goma prayer to ward off disasters and bring good fortune from the chief priest, Oda Takamasa, of Mikamo Fudoson, a temple of devout faith in the Manyo period.
The prototype was created by Go Sakai (Butsaya Sakai), a popular Buddhist sculptor known for his "Cat Buddha." Be sure to purchase this lucky charm to pray for happiness in the new year.
