■Handling of Ebonite Mouthpieces■

High-quality ebonite is the material used for mouthpieces.

For a certain period after manufacturing, the properties of its components may cause discoloration of silver plating.

New mouthpieces may retain the properties of the ebonite material, and discoloration may occur if stored in an instrument case with silver-plated instruments, ligatures, and caps.

Furthermore, storing the mouthpiece in a hot and humid place can easily cause discoloration. To avoid discoloration of the silver plating, we recommend storing the mouthpiece separately from the instrument for a certain period of time, such as in the outer pocket of the instrument case (wrapped in a soft cloth to prevent damage). (Discoloration becomes less likely after the seasoning period.)
