Two-layer papermaking is a unique technology that involves manufacturing the cone paper in two stages, creating a single cone paper with two layers: a base layer and a surface layer. In the FF-wk series, long-fiber (low-beaten) wood pulp is used for the base layer, providing high rigidity through its high-density structure and appropriate internal loss. Short-fiber (high-beaten) kenaf and binchotan charcoal powder are blended into the surface layer to increase the propagation speed on the cone paper surface. Furthermore, the edge shape is up-rolled to achieve a high stroke, and the material used is a specially formulated urethane foam made from polycarbonate-based material that possesses conflicting physical properties such as high loss and high Young's modulus. *The color tone of the cone paper surface of the FF-WK series is due to binchotan charcoal and no dyes are used. Therefore, the color tone of the cone paper surface will vary from one unit to another.
The center cap is made of aluminum alloy molded into a rigid dome shape. By dispersing and weakening strong resonances at specific frequencies, high-frequency coloration is reduced. In addition, by directly connecting it to the voice coil bobbin, the high-frequency reproduction range is extended.
This speaker employs a three-point bonding method, where the cone paper, damper, and voice coil are bonded at the same point. This increases the strength of the cone neck, resulting in improved high-frequency characteristics. Furthermore, by incorporating a pocket shape in the damper neck, it is possible to use a relay wire for the voice coil while still enabling three-point bonding.
To minimize changes in sound quality, the input terminals use gold-plated Faston 205 type connectors.
The FF-wk series is a full-range unit designed specifically for bass reflex enclosures, featuring a completely redesigned FF series structure and a newly added 10cm diameter driver. Through the adoption of a new papermaking method ("2-layer paper cone"), a rigid dome-shaped aluminum alloy center cap, and a pocket neck damper, it achieves powerful bass and neutral treble reproduction while maintaining clear and realistic sound quality.
