In the year 2205 AD, Earth, advancing space exploration, boasted peace and prosperity. One day, during a battle between the Bolar Federation and the Galman Empire fleets near the solar system, a massive missile launched veered off course, destroying a solar tourism spaceship that had departed Earth and was sailing near Mercury, before directly hitting the sun. This caused an abnormal situation on the sun.

Receiving reports that all life on Earth, including humanity, would be wiped out within a year, the Commander-in-Chief of the Earth Defense Force ordered the Yamato to embark on a voyage to find a planet habitable for humanity. However, the Yamato gradually became embroiled in the fierce battle between the Bolar Federation and the Galman Empire led by Dessler...
