The NOKTON 75mm F1.5 Aspherical is a large-aperture, manual-focus medium telephoto lens designed exclusively for the Nikon Z mount. It covers the full-frame image circle, and its optical design is optimised for the image sensors of Nikon Z System cameras. This lens is equipped with electronic contacts, enabling data communication between the lens and the camera body. When used with a body that supports electronic communication and the latest firmware, it supports EXIF data and in-body image stabilisation (3-axis), as well as three types of focus-assist functions: focusing via a change in focus point frame colour, focusing via peaking, and focusing via the magnification button. The lens consists of 7 elements in 6 groups, achieving a balance of compactness and high performance despite its large maximum aperture of F1.5. The use of aspherical lenses ensures excellent image quality right from the widest aperture. At the minimum focusing distance of 0.5 m and the widest aperture of F1.5, the depth of field is extremely shallow at approximately ±2 mm, allowing you to enjoy a pronounced bokeh effect. Conversely, at the same minimum focusing distance of 0.5 m and the smallest aperture of F32, the depth of field extends to approximately ±4 cm, enabling you to achieve a deep depth of field. Focusing is manual only; one of the lens’s key features is its smooth, silky operation, achieved through a high-precision metal helicoid that withstands the demanding focus adjustments required at maximum aperture. The aperture is controlled mechanically via a ring directly connected to the mechanism, allowing adjustment directly on the lens rather than via the camera’s command dial. The aperture consists of 12 blades that form a near-circular shape. The synergy between the large maximum aperture of f/1.5 and the slightly longer focal length makes it ideal for photographic expressions that ‘significantly blur the background’; furthermore, it renders out-of-focus areas of point light sources with a smooth, well-defined shape.
