What is an oil filter? Engines have many sliding parts, and engine oil is used primarily to reduce frictional resistance, prevent wear, and cool the engine. As engine oil is used, it gradually becomes contaminated with foreign substances that have entered from outside and carbon that is generated during combustion. These impurities wear and damage the internal parts of the engine, shortening its lifespan. The oil filter has the role of removing these harmful impurities from the oil and supplying clean oil to the engine.
