Located deep in the mountains of Yamanaka Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture, Shirasagi Mokko has been producing everyday tableware, including bowls, trays, and round wooden dishes, for three generations, focusing on traditional Yamanaka lacquerware.
The company employs highly skilled lathe-turning craftsmen and is one of the few to handle raw material procurement and processing, sharing 50% of the raw materials for Yamanaka lacquerware, which is made from natural wood. They use only domestically sourced wood and handle everything from raw material selection to final sawing.
By using a wood-cutting method called "vertical cutting," the beautiful wood grain is revealed, resulting in a natural finish that allows you to appreciate the wood grain. A characteristic of cherry wood is that the wood grain becomes less noticeable when lacquered. The design is easy to use with both Japanese and Western cuisine.
There are individual differences in the products, and it is not possible to specify the color or wood grain.
Dishwasher, dish dryer, oven, and microwave use are all prohibited.
Do not use abrasive items such as scouring pads or cleansers, as they may cause scratches or peeling.
Avoid soaking, and wipe off any moisture after use or washing.
Store away from direct sunlight.
