Thanks to its porous surface, perlite is very absorbent and can retain a larger amount of water. Simultaneously retains a large percentage of air, preventing roots from rotting due to excess water. Perlite is recommended for planting seedlings in pots, boxes, and containers. Thanks to it, a lighter substrate with better parameters is obtained. Perlite is a siliceous rock, with a chemical composition very similar to obsidian. The raw product is heated to a temperature of 870°C, which causes its air pockets to expand, leading to the creation of a very lightweight material with high porosity.
