Synopsis
A new adventure for the Enterprise.
Following "Discovery" and "Picard," a highly anticipated new series begins!
■The new "Star Trek" series is a classic story that fans will love!
The adventure of the Enterprise begins with the narration, "Space...the last frontier."
Set aboard the USS Enterprise under the command of its second captain, Christopher Pike, this series unfolds in self-contained episodes, setting it apart from "Discovery" and "Picard" as a return to the series' roots.
Inheriting the spirit of "Star Trek: The Original Series" (TOS), which began airing in 1966, homages can be felt throughout.
Starting with the same narration as TOS, this new series is full of TOS flavor and is a long-awaited treat for fans.
You'll definitely want to compare the old and new "Star Trek" series.
■Focusing on Captain Pike's internal struggle stemming from "Star Trek: Discovery," this film depicts the crew's struggles and growth.
It portrays Pike's efforts to overcome his future destiny, which he encountered in "Discovery" Season 2, Episode 12, "Walking Through the Valley of Shadows," and the struggles and growth of Spock, the science and engineering officer who supports the captain after learning the truth, along with the backgrounds of each crew member.
Pay close attention to the Enterprise's bridge, which was created during the production of "Discovery" but wasn't shown in much detail.
You can fully appreciate the creators' attention to detail, including the [mysterious visor] that Spock is peering into.
■In addition to the familiar members, many fascinating new characters appear, unleashing a "Star Trek world" that feels both new and nostalgic!
Pike and Spock are back, of course, but First Officer Oona, who harbors "a certain secret," also returns from "Discovery." Uhura, a key member of the TOS crew, plays a crucial role despite being a trainee, utilizing her multilingual abilities.
The diversity embodied by the young crew—confident pilot Ortegas, acting first officer Ra'an, and medical officer Chapel—is also characteristic of Star Trek.
■ Abundant video and audio extras for a deeper immersion into "Strange: A New World."
The audio commentary in episode 1, featuring Anson Mount (Captain Pike) and executive producer Akiva Goldsman discussing the new series in detail, is a must-listen.
In addition, it includes three making-of videos, deleted scenes and bloopers, as well as TOS season 1 episode 9, "Space Station SOS," which served as the basis for the final episode 10, "The Value of Mercy," resulting in a rich content package of over two and a half hours.
