Product Introduction

The 'Vario NDX II' is a variable ND filter that allows you to adjust the light reduction by rotating the front frame. It can be smoothly adjusted from ND2.5 to ND450, eliminating the need to carry multiple filters. This filter is essential for preventing overexposure during video shooting with digital cameras and can also be used for slow shutter photography in still images. The 'Vario NDX II' features a newly developed polarization film, which enhances color neutrality. As a result, it can be used up to ND450 (when focal length is 50mm or more). It also improves operability by allowing the attachment of a detachable control lever to the filter frame. The lever can be mounted in two different positions. Additionally, the rotating frame has a range of 90°, reducing the need for excessive turning and making operation easier.

■Product Features - An essential filter for digital video shooting In video recording, the appropriate shutter speed depends on the frame rate (fps). Usually, it should be up to twice the frame rate. If the shutter speed is too fast, the motion may appear choppy and unnatural. Using an ND filter to set the shutter speed to an appropriate value allows for smooth, natural footage. This is especially important when shooting with a wide aperture to achieve background blur. With the 'Vario NDX II', you can freely change the density even in rapidly changing lighting conditions, maintaining the correct shutter speed. - Prevents overexposure when shooting with wide-open apertures and allows slow shutter effects When shooting in bright sunlight with a bright lens like F1.4, even at the maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 sec, overexposure may occur. Using the 'Vario NDX II' to reduce light allows you to prevent overexposure while keeping the aperture wide open. Without an ND filter, you would need to stop down the aperture, which can affect the desired expression and cause diffraction and image quality reduction. It also enables slow shutter effects while maintaining the lens's resolution, allowing for expressive images of flowing water, moving people, or vehicles. - Reduces light without color cast The variable ND filter uses a structure similar to stacking two PL filters, changing the density by adjusting the polarization film. Conventional polarization films can cause color cast, but the 'Vario NDX II' uses a newly developed polarization film to achieve neutral color tone. It is truly the ultimate variable ND filter. Note: When the density is close to maximum, there may be X-shaped artifacts in the image. This phenomenon is more likely with shorter focal lengths and varies depending on the lens used. Approximate usable density ranges (all based on 35mm format): - 24mm focal length → ND2.5 to ND40 - 35mm focal length → ND2.5 to ND80 - 50mm and above → ND2.5 to ND450
