It is the essence of all things in the universe, and the eternal and unchanging truth of that reality across the past, present, and future. The five wisdoms and five characteristics of this truth are represented by the Vajradhatu Dainichi Nyorai, who makes the wisdom fist mudra and wears a Bodhisattva-like crown of five wisdoms. On the other hand, in the Garbhadhatu Mandala, the figure also wears a bodhisattva-like crown, forms the Dharma Realm Mudra, and represents the inherent virtue and principle that transcends empirical knowledge. In the Tendai sect, Dainichi Nyorai and Shakyamuni Buddha are considered to be the same entity, the Dharma Body and the Manifestation Body, while in Esoteric Buddhism, they are considered to be separate entities from the Shakyamuni Buddha of Exoteric Buddhism.
