The amino acids l-lysine and l-proline are precursors to hydroxylysine (HL) and hydroxyproline (HP), two components of collagen. Collagen is an essential component of blood vessel walls. Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, is also essential for collagen production. Hawthorn berry and grape seed extracts are potent natural antioxidants due to their high levels of proanthocyanidins.
