Chikkei is a "classical-style" (untuned) shinobue flute used in the traditional music played at festivals throughout Japan. Before purchasing, please double-check the key number (written on the head of the flute) and the number of holes. The rattan-wrapped shinobue uses only superior bamboo that has been aged for about two years, and is made in the traditional style with rattan wrapped around the head and mouthpiece, preserving the natural form of the bamboo. With use, the color of the bamboo will gradually change to a rich tortoiseshell color. The inside is finished with synthetic lacquer, making it a cherished instrument that can be used for a long time. Please note that since it is made entirely of natural materials, there will be various textures on the surface of the bamboo.
