Yakushi Kiln May Doll, Boys' Festival, Nishikisai, Young Warrior Ornament (Bow and Arrow)

Total length: 11cm Tango no Sekku is a familiar festival celebrated as Children's Day. It is said that it began to be celebrated as a boys' festival in the Kamakura period. Iris, believed to be a medicinal herb that wards off evil spirits, is also associated with martial arts (respect for martial arts), and so it became established as a boys' festival. May dolls are filled with wishes for boys to grow up strong and healthy, and for the prosperity of the family, but Yakushi Kiln's May dolls can also be enjoyed as seasonal decorations, featuring characters such as Momotaro and Kintaro.
